What Would Our Economy Look Like in the Shadow of Vaccine Passports?

August 7, 2021

This article was written by Brandon Smith and originally published at Birch Gold Group

Yes, it’s an official concern now. The mainstream media and the Biden Administration have gone from suggesting that Covid vaccinations would “not be mandated” to saying they “should be mandated.” This means several very uncomfortable consequences are on the way for our economy and the nation as a whole. Remember, the federal government already decided it’s legal for companies to require coronavirus vaccines. The most obvious next step: A mandatory “vaccine passport” certifying its holder has gotten the recommended injections.

The assertion by the establishment is that life would simply go back to normal as long as you comply and get your shots like a good citizen. But from what I have seen even some people who have taken the vaccines voluntarily do not want a passport system in place, and for good reason. Should a mandatory vaccine passport system be implemented, life will never be normal again.

Vaccine passports are not a panacea

First we have to take into account the fact that there will never be a 100% vaccination rate in the U.S.; not even close. With a number of states at or below a 50% vaccination rate, there is a question of practicality regarding vaccine passports. Such a program would mean that around half the country could be put in the position of hearing they have no right to employment or possibly even general interaction in trade because they won’t take the experimental jab.

The real concern with a vaccine passport has nothing to do with coronavirus, or herd immunity, or saving lives. It’s a tool of control. Like the Soviet Union’s communist party membership card, it’s an official document that demonstrates compliance to authority. It’s a tool to divide the U.S. population.

If this autocratic diktat was directed at a tiny minority of people within the population, it might work at frightening them into accepting the vaccinations; to go along to get along. But, with hundreds of millions of people saying “no way,” history tells us the more pressure applied the more rebellion is inspired.

Second, we have to consider what the immediate economic and financial effects will be in light of this conflict. For example, look at the amount of relocation and migration that has happened in the U.S. in the past year alone. Many millions of people have escaped from predominantly blue states based on political and social factors; and the covid mandates and lockdowns are a big part of what inspired most people to leave.

As has been well documented, blue states are much slower in recovering economically when compared to red states with less restrictions. Not only that, but money moves with people. This is a hard reality. Conservative states are seeing ample cash inflows from tourism and mass migration while blue states are bleeding tax revenues. In light of this revelation, red states are going to ask themselves this question:

“Why would we commit economic suicide like the blue states by following their example? Wouldn’t vaccine passports be the equivalent of blue state covid mandates times a hundred?”

But let’s say for a moment that vaccine passports were somehow implemented everywhere in the country at the same exact time. What would happen then?

Economic consequences of a vaccine passport mandate

Well, the amount of bureaucracy that would be added between the average consumer and everyday trade would be immense, and with red tape comes a slowdown in business.

Whole new wings of the government would have to be created to track and enforce vaccine passports rules (I say “rules” because none of the mandates have ever been passed into law or voted on by the public). Regular inspections of businesses would have to be enacted, and new taxes would have to be created to pay for the system. The amount of space and employees needed to meet new standards for retailers would increase in order to check every customer that comes through the door for a passport.

Also, let’s not forget that many thousands of people in multiple states have had “breakout” covid infections despite being fully vaccinated, which means rules on social distancing and masking will also still be in place. The amount of capital that a business owner would have to spend to meet the government requirements would continue to rise while their profits would continue to fall. Eventually, the majority of small businesses would close, just as we saw during the first series of lockdowns.

Smaller businesses, which represent about half of the U.S. retail economy, would be under so much stress from maintaining the proper restrictions and adding infrastructure that they simply would not be able to compete with major corporations and Big Box stores.

The end result would be the complete disintegration of the small business sector (except perhaps online retailers). Only national and international conglomerates would be left behind to provide brick-and-mortar services to the public, and of course many millions of jobs would be lost in the process.

Less competition means ever increasing prices and a lower quality of goods and services.

Simply put, vaccine passports could result in the death of what’s left of the free market as we know it. The majors will know they have the public by the scruff of the neck, so why bother trying anymore? They can throw us scraps from the table and we would have to take them and be happy with what we get.

Practical alternatives to the death of the free market

Then again, there is a central factor that tends to arise when restrictions on the economy are put in place – The black market, or what I would call “alternative markets”.

When governments restrict domestic trade and limit consumer participation based on frivolous requirements, people don’t just roll over and submit. Instead, they find other ways to get the things they need more freely. This means black market trade or barter markets, alternative currencies and sometimes entire underground economies.

Free markets will not be denied. And this is where the government disguise of humanitarianism will really fall away and true tyranny will be revealed.

Anyone rational would say that people trading with each other on an individual or community basis is perfectly normal, but under medical tyranny such trade would be treated as an ultimate crime. By providing services for each other, common people would be “opening the door” to survival outside of the system, and if survival is possible, then non-vaccination is possible. Therefore, the argument will be made by the establishment that alternative economies need to be eliminated “for the good of society as a whole.” There is always an excuse for totalitarianism.

With a large portion of the population seeking a means to live without oppression, alternative markets will thrive, and the government will make war on them. Which means the people will be forced to make war on the government. It’s inevitable under every scenario. But in the meantime, barter and trade will continue without vaccine passports and there’s not much that governments can do to stop it.

I have little doubt that precious metals will become go-to commodities for trade as a currency, just as they always have in times of crisis. All trade systems need a universal mechanism with inherent value to back it, otherwise more and more steps are added in the trade cycle and it becomes more difficult to conclude each transaction. Straight barter will be useful, but so will precious metals (especially gold and silver) along with other hard commodities with intrinsic value and utility.

Economic disaster followed by an economic renaissance

What I see in the near future is economic disaster in the wake of any attempt at a vaccine passport system. Millions will lose their jobs or quit their jobs in protest. Small businesses will disappear under the weight of bureaucracy and constant scrutiny. The quality of goods and services will suffer as competition shrivels. But I also see the birth of a whole new economic system outside of the mainstream control grid. I see true free markets returning, and eventually, I see full blown rebellion.

What I suggest is that people get ready for this eventuality. We need to become producers again, rather than mere consumers. In order to position ourselves for success in the new trade environment we have to be able to make necessities, repair necessities or teach necessary skills. Those that are able to do this will do very well within alternative markets. And, of course, those that stock preparations and buy gold and silver will also have a safety net as the current economy is slowly crushed under the weight of covid mandates.

Finally, if you find yourself today in a heavily restricted city, county, or state, I suggest leaving now while you still can to a safer and more free place with more liberty minded people. Time is running out fast.

We have not taken the fake vaccine inoculation and WILL NOT DO SO EITHER. We have already been asked to prove we’ve taken the jab by a Karen at a Holiday Inn Express up in Oregon. I told her it was none of her business in no uncertain terms. Of course she took offense. It was that encounter that ruin my vacation while visiting my children and grand children. Also, neither of my children nor my five grand children will take that inoculation, because we all knew last year that this was a phony virus. And don’t get me started on the fake Vaccine which is not a vaccine at all, but a Gene Therapy Operating System, (as per Moderna)

This hysterical approach to gaining a 70% inoculation coverage is not only unethical but immoral as well, and is also against the protocols of the Nuremberg Trials at the end of WW-II which made it clear that governments will no longer be allowed to Force their citizens to take any medical intervention against their will.

IE: The Biden administration is already criminally culpable for doing exactly what those protocols stated it could not do. THIS IS NAZI GERMANY AND IF WE DON’T STOP THIS SOON WE MAY FIND OURSELVES IN A CIVIL WAR.

The disintegration of the economy as it has been will also mean a degredation in the availability of effective healthcare. Most preps do not and can not comprehensively resolve this issue, and conflict, warranted or not, will mean that all systems’ failures will be expedited. Without the capacity to care for the sick or wounded and mitigate suffering the misery index of life will be compounded exponentially. The temptation to sacrifice principles, however, will yield no appreciable result since the very object of this insidious tyranny is death and subjugation, as hard as that is to believe for any decent person. If you can, liberty loving individuals and groups…focus on sustaining life. Pain mitigation in the middle of suffering will trump everything including precious metals. You must have access to it and a safe delivery mechanism…plus a healthy awareness of your own mortality.

We were just talking about this, that if you are not vaccinated you won’t be accepted into any hospital. We will have to create our own everything, there will be a time of great suffering and gnashing of teeth, forced into risk and forced to defend ourselves.
When the establishment says vaccine passports are now required, we say no more taxes paid. When the establishment says no more access to hospitals or grocery stores we say no more mortgages paid, Do you see how powerful non-participation is? The greatest threat to authorities is proving we don’t need them.

    Hi Brandon,

After years of reading and appreciating your articles on this website- but never commenting- all of sudden, I found myself posting in the comment section of your previous article, ‘We Will Not Comply: A Campaign Against Medical Tyranny’.

I would now like to officially say ‘hello’. I’ve started to feel a bit awkward- like I’ve walked into your house without knocking on the door and introducing myself.

Umm, so thanks for giving me the forum to comment and communicate with others.
Being an ‘anti-vaxxer’, and all that implies, I’m finding myself quite isolated. No one that I know amongst my family, friends or in my workplace would agree with any of your views Brandon, and yet they resonate with me. Thanks for all your hard work ‘feverishly writing lately on covid mandates and vaccine passports issues’.
I like the way your brain works!

Alt-Market-us is a thought provoking site which requires an open mind.

It’s never easy when you think for yourself, but there are millions just like you, myself included. I am not an anti-vaxxer, nor vaccine hesitant, nor a vaccine resistor. A vaccine rejector is more like it. Have just read and seen too much to believe any of the propaganda anymore. Also try . It can be a raucous group but some interesting thoughts and a definite free speech site.

Preparing for the next hit. The second wave. Much, much more yet to come. There was more than one plague during the time of Moses before leading the millions of Israelites in the Exodus out of Egypt. And the intensity and each event became worse and worse, more intense. That is the pattern for what is yet to come. The plagues then, at that time, are the same as now, and more to come.

Great article below to review and ask ourselves the hard questions. This first
go-round was just the “dress rehearsal” for what is still to come. Put your faith and trust in your Heavenly Father first and foremost. Seek His wisdom and guidance above all else.
    https://www.theorganicprepper.com/another-lockdown-get-prepared/

To true believers, watch and pray. Be ready for His Kingdom first and foremost.
Keep your focus on His Truth. Not in fear of these times. Our Father Yahweh IS in full control of the evil as well as the good, just as He set a limit on how far satan could go with Job. He protected Daniel from the lions. Many, many biblical examples of His protection for His people. He neither slumbers nor sleeps.

Brandon I just hope they don’t mandate vaccines for international flights. I have family overseas, these people are tyrants.

It’s very possible (likely?) they will be required. By governments or airlines or both. Though I pray there will be some holdouts. And I’m in a similar situation. Pray for wisdom my friend. My immediate family is working on getting ourselves back together.

I strongly suggest stocking up on silver dimes. It’s always good to be the guy that can make change, or pay in exact change. Besides that, they are always getting more valuable. I bought several rolls when they were less than 50 bucks a roll, now they are 120 a roll.

Just think what they will be worth when nobody is taking the paper anymore….

“The Postman” movie comes to mind. And we must remember, these are just movies. the REAL THING coming in the not too distant future will be very real.
“It is set in a post-apocalyptic and neo-Western version of the disestablished United States in the then near-future year of 2013, sixteen-plus years after unspecified apocalyptic events, led by Nathan Holn, progressing to war, followed by plagues, that collectively left a huge impact on human civilization and erased most technology. Like the book, the film follows the story of a nomadic drifter (Costner) who stumbles across the uniform of an old United States Postal Service mail carrier, and unwittingly inspires hope through an empty promise of a “Restored United States of America” and starts his path to become a national hero.”

    No nation will be restored.

I wish I could leave the city. As a young person I had to move here for university, which is pretty much required for any skilled engineering work in this country. But a year on from when this all started, there is no work here, and without it, no chance to leave. What money I have gets spent on things that may help when the time comes. Better to be prepared. My only other option is to live with my abusive family in the country, which would be condemning myself.

The cost of relocating in this country is dear, and there are few strong conservative strongholds in Europe to even relocate to.

  • Farmer August 9, 2021 at 4:52 pm

This viewpoint of what’s coming fits as another explanation for the fanatic emphasis on getting everyone vaccinated, in addition to your earlier blog suggesting it was to minimize the “control” group numbers.

I’m continually amazed by the number of my friends who have been taken in by this entire plan, including the “need for vaccine induced herd immunity”. The sequence of these past many months has been quite effective at creating compliance. The masks are such a great psychological tool for starting the habit of compliance and fear. The lockdowns paved the way for the cure-all, the vaccine, so we could all go back to normal. Except for those darned anti-vaxxers! They ruin everything for us all! Good thing we have the perfect scapegoat to blame..

You’ve always been a step or more ahead of this unfolding story, Brandon. Of course it’s a bit late for someone who might just be starting to prepare to be detached from the system. I’ve always been a bit of a cynic, as an experienced farmer who knows what it takes to really be growing all one’s food. Years to build fertility in a garden. Not just a just-in-case package of heirloom seeds stored along with cans of beans and corn.

And barter of course depends on there being desirable goods in the black market system. Prime goods being food. Depending where one lives, it takes minimum 1/10 acre per person to grow the food they need. I’d up that quite a bit.

So I’m not real hopeful for how this is all going to play out. Just plant and grow and tend the gardens and the livestock and connect with community.. and be grateful for all that we do have.

I’ve been able to get a new garden to fertility within 2 years, but they almost always produce best after 3 years. I’m not sure why, but it is always 3 years. After 2 years you can be producing enough to supplement your existing food supplies. Also, depending on where you live you can supplement with hunting, and wild or raised meat will be a sought after barter item as well. Really, you have to have at least a one year supply of survival food or things will be rough. You can stretch it for longer if you are supplementing with a garden and hunting/trapping.

      • hugo August 9, 2021 at 5:31 pm

Find a local LDS food bank and ask them to buy it. We did. They required us to can a bunch to replace it but it was good fun and we enjoyed it.

      • Farmer August 9, 2021 at 8:23 pm

You are indeed a gardener! I agree that three years is the magical time. I’d imagine it has to do with getting basic and trace minerals integrated into the soil web from whatever form of fertilization you use (I use a lot of Jadam, a form of Natural Korean Farming), as well as establishing microorganisms into the soil web. Mature soil is more fungal, if you’re practicing no-till, rather than the bacterial soil that it starts out as after initial tilling (I need to initially till by hand to remove tons of rocks and mix the subsoil and topsoil). Bacterial soil has more “bad” nematodes, fungal soil has beneficial nematodes that “ lasso” the bad nematodes. Also I increase the biodiversity in my entire fields with beneficial flower attractants that I imagine take years to get that healthy balance of herbivores (like aphids) and insectivores (lady bugs )..

But the most important thing that occurs with three years of gardening is the knowledge I gain about gardening in general and about my particular Permacultural setting..

Yes to hunting! Although I use my veggies to trade with the lifelong locals who are much better at it. Foraging ducks and chickens are great for egg protein and occasional rooster/drake harvests.

Aside from protein, a big challenge is growing calories. Fortunately not a problem where I live, but takes more space than a productive veggie garden. Sweet potatoes, cassava, taro, plantains, fruit.

Sorry to sidetrack.. just a bit of infotainment to lighten a heavy topic.

I focus on different types of potatoes for calories and some sugars. They are easy to grow and I don’t have to worry about frost as much. Montana can be harsh for gardens, but I found that simply laying blankets on my raised beds on cold nights does the trick. You can’t really do that with corn or wheat, though.

        • JustOneGuy August 10, 2021 at 2:49 pm

How right you are; fungal soil is vastly more productive!
My parents happen to live near a Menonite community, one of whom manufactures the kilns for producing – in quantity! – what they refer to as “Bio-Char”. This is more than simple wood ash. Once the raw tree has been processed into pea-sized pieces they run that through the kiln just long enough to fully char the exterior…while leaving the interior uncombusted.
That same individual showed me last Nivember a Winter garden plot he had prepared back in September and when he pulled up a handful of that (which had been applied 3-5″ deep) I was floored!
That bed had 6″ long strand of Mychorizzae soil fungus (white, razor-thin strands) distributed THICKLY throughout it’s bulk.. Conversing with him he indicated that that particular plot was specifically prepared as a ‘No Till’ patch with which they had previously had extraordinary success in their previous efforts elsewhere. Further he asserted that the exposed Carbon would be carried downward into the soil by the simple activity of earthworms…hence, the No Till mentioned above.
Lastly, this – done sufficiently well initially – is extremely durable, providing full benefits for decades`; similar to South American’s supplementing thier local soils with Cgarcoal millenia ago…and still reaping the benefits to this DAY.
Might be worth researching a bit. I am preparing to lay 3000 lbs thickly over my own 5000 sq ft. garden patch here presently.

          JOG

  • Gauntlet33 August 10, 2021 at 10:04 am

@Hugo, I’ve seen various websites for canned “survival food”, but I wouldn’t recommend any of them because (1) they’re ridiculously expensive, and (2) they wouldn’t sustain you for too long. I would instead focus on preparing your soil if you have any backyard by composting from veges, leaves, etc., or just buying good soil, and of course seeds.
    ..
Also, african blue basil is great for attracting bees to pollinate.
    ..
For meat, I would suggest a shotgun for ducks, deer, or turkey (if you’re in a rural area with abundant wildlife), or raising chickens or goats for eggs and milk (at least that’s our plan…we’ll see if it works out). We’ll also have a very large pond in our backyard so we’ll be able to catch fish year round, and luckily, my young daughters like fish sticks, but I’m sure they’ll eat just about anything if hungry enough.
    ..
Anyway, I do hope for the best and will pray for anyone who doesn’t have arable land and the ability to grow their own food. And hopefully, you know someone who is vaxxed who can shop for you and you pay them a tip for their trouble to make it worth their while.

    • Pat B August 11, 2021 at 11:56 pm

If people plan on growing vegetables and fruit trees, its a little late now for planting a Summer crop. I’m planning and preparing the soil for the Fall crop of broccoli, parsley is reseeding; varieties of cold season lettuces and the underground growers.

Winter, with snow or frosty cold, is the best time for getting in a good supply of catalogs to scour when I can’t get outside. I don’t worry about the budget and, in madcap fashion select everything and anything I want with the first go-round. Then its back to reality when checking the budget and the order then, gets real!…And lots shorter!

Being a Certified Master Gardener I know that preparing and continually feeding the soil is extremely important. It’s not a one and done process! Soil is a living organism. Gotta keep those earthworms and underground critters happy!

I live in a very hot, dry, often windy High Desert, California, elevation 3500′. Growing anything is very challenging. The hot Summer sun literally bakes un-mulched soil. I’ve been growing stuff nearly all my life. That’s what keeps us young and healthy!!!
When we know what we’ve put into our soil and what we’ve taken out of it its a pretty darn good feeling just to go out the door and pick lunch and dinner! No toxic Monsanto chemicals, no Round-up to contaminate the soil and affect our health.

Knowing what grows in the Fall/Winter and what grows in Spring/Summer and knowing the USDA Hardiness Zone for the area (that measures the lowest temps in your area for growing anything) is really important as it can be a waste of money to buy and plant something that will not withstand frost, snow or blazing heat. Here’s a good source –
      https://www.gurneys.com/hardiness_zone?p=0549530&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GU_Lead_Gen&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_ffxytqq8gIVOQ2tBh3r7gYdEAAYAiAAEgJff_D_BwE

Roto-Tilling the soil kills off the good underground insect life and bacteria needed to start and keep healthy soil. Best is preparing well ahead of time by continually putting in lots of compost, and/or barnyard manure, kitchen wastes like eggshells, coffee grounds, veggie wastes and peelings, and keeping the soil “squeezed-sponge” damp so the earthworms and good bacteria gets started. I keep a 2 gallon covered bucket in the corner of the kitchen sink for all non-meat waste I use in the kitchen, including used paper towels. What comes from the soil goes right back into the soil.

One of the best mulch material I use and replenish about every 4 or 5 years is alfalfa. I buy 10 bales at a time. I mulch the soil about 3 to 4 inches thick around the trees and snuggle it up along the vegetable rows. Alfalfa is rich in nitrogen, does not break up easily like straw or hay and it lasts for a long time around the plants. It protects the soil and helps to keep the soil moist so less water needs to be used.

When you can put a shovel into the ground and pull up a shovel full of earthworms, you know your soil is good. Soil always needs feeding to keep the earthworms happy and making good soil. Whatever green waste I pull up from the soil, goes right back into it. Even weeds that have not gone to seed. I just pull ’em up and lay them right on top of the soil. Always I discard spent tomato stems and leaves into the trash container as they are toxic.

Always…I only buy Heirloom seeds (to name a few places – Botanicalinterests.com; rareseeds.com; seedsavers.org) and I save those seeds after harvesting; thoroughly air drying them each year then putting into marked envelopes with the dates. Best kept in a cool area until next years planting of same. Heirloom seeds are grown from generation and passed down to the kids unlike Hybrid seeds that do not re-grow true or not at all. They have to be bought every year and they may not always be available. Some people say Heirloom (also called open-pollinated) are more expensive. I don’t find that too be true because they usually need to be bought only one time. Its said that the Amish grow as much for their seed as for their food and I believe it. Using the best of the fruit is saved for the seed.

History always repeats itself until it doesn’t any more. Famine is real and coming.

An excellent book with lots of wonderful life and garden wisdom is by
      Masanobu Fukuoka “One Straw Revolution.”
Also, a great magazine for all around gardening/farming – Countryside and Small Stock Journal magazine https://www.iamcountryside.coms
If you can find any of the delightfully wonderful books written by Ruth Stout you will have a treasure worth enjoying for many years. amazon.com may have some.
The very best to all in their growing endeavors.

I also love in the high desert of Cali at 3400ft. I saw 15years ago what was going to happen with our water supply and planned accordingly. I have mostly all my trees, vines, bushes and seasonal in air pruned pots–I have close to 60 pots. Everything is under shade sails. I have two greenhouses made made with insect cloth from Greenhouse Mega Store and it keeps out even whiteflies. My water bill went from $300 to $100. I feed vegan worm castings, fermented carrot juice and alfalfa—works well.

If this article doesn’t sound the alarm to withdraw all cash from the banks, I don’t know what does:

I am thinking that belonging to a community that has the same ideals/goals is a great idea. Like the Amish, I guess. I thought that my church was my community, but I don’t know who is a leftist there, and I don’t trust people to even ask. I live in Colorado and it’s going to be interesting if my company forces me to get a vaccine, even though I work at home full time. They will be making the decision Sept 7. My company did an anonymous survey about masks and the vaccine, and boy did I let it rip. My company is giving everyone 2 hours of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training. I hate working for a woke company. I will stand my ground against receiving the vaccine. I think it’s a hill worth dying on. Although I know many are caving, which is disappointing. I enjoy this website very much and enjoy reading all the comments! Thank you Brandon.

Bravo, Jeri. Stand your ground with your company. You may lose your job. But trust our Father WILL provide and protect His own. HE is the only One Who can. Too many 501-c3 churches are in-cahoots with govt mandates. We cannot mix the “world” with our faith in our Father by dancin’ on the fence between the two! Check “Clergy Response Team” information on the internet. Here’s one site there are many others. “Come out of her, My people.” He’s talking to us. There are many fake pastors getting govt money to lead their flock astray.

You are the church, so are all true believers who study in the “wilderness.” Your company and church will have others in your same like mind. This is where discernment becomes really necessary.

“What I suggest is that people get ready for this eventuality. We need to become producers again, rather than mere consumers. In order to position ourselves for success in the new trade environment we have to be able to make necessities, repair necessities or teach necessary skills.” Thank you (again) 4 sharing your useful thoughts with us.
