It’s hard to believe it, but the Wild Bunch is about to publish its 100th issue! That’s a whole lot of information and a lot of writing over the years. In this milestone issue I would like to take a step back from survival mechanics for a little while and look at the bigger picture – Why are we preppers? Why are we survivalists? Is it as simple as people wanting to stay alive? Because that’s certainly not enough to get human beings past the worst scenarios. Often, a greater purpose is required to keep the spirit alive and carry us through the fire.
It is with this reality in mind that I will be discussing the concept of a “survival code,” a methodology for dealing with life after a collapse, as well as life today in a world full of people who are oblivious to the dangers that threaten our very comfortable yet very fragile system. The truth is, the majority of the populace does not prep. There are more preppers than ever before, but we are still a minority. And whatever may happen in the near future, we have to be prepared mentally to deal with the naivety of apparent good times, and the frenzied panic of bad times. Let’s examine a structure for mentally processing and adapting to the inevitable days of chaos.

I’ve been a subscriber of the Wild Bunch Dispatch since issue 1, and a fan of Brandon’s writing since first discovering him when he wrote as Giordano Bruno on Neithercorp, circa 2010? This issue of the Wild Bunch Dispatch is special, not only as it is the 100th one, but it epitomizes what should be the goal / code of survivalists / preppers everywhere.
