The Q&A portion of the Wild Bunch Dispatch will be held on this page from 6:30pm to 8pm (Mountain Time) today. Any questions you might have on the 64th issue please post here and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. Some ground rules:
1) Please stick to the subject matter of the newsletter.
2) This is not a debate forum. If you have some concerns I’m happy to address them, but I can’t get into a long circular debate while other people have questions.
3) If I do not respond to your question immediately, don’t freak out. I’ll get to it, don’t worry.
4) Try to keep to one or two questions each time you write a post. Please refrain from essay-long multi-question posts. It is much appreciated.
I will begin discussion at exactly 6:30pm Mountain time. Looking forward to your questions and thoughts on the Wild Bunch Issue #64. The next issue of the newsletter will be released on October 21st. If you missed out on this discussion you can still subscribe for the next issue and participate. For more information on how to subscribe, visit the link HERE.

Discussion on Issue #64 is now open.
Is there a way to relay visual and video info through the setup you mentioned in this article?
Yes. Well, I’m not sure about video files because they are larger, but image files can be easily sent using HF frequencies and a ham modem. There are free software packages that will allow you to do this as long as you have the right equipment. Make sure you have encryption packages for files, though. This is a huge advantage for any community using forward observers for security. If a threat is approaching your observers can take photos and send them to command to help them identify targets.
I sincerely appreciate your balanced approach in these newsletters. Yes, we should not be stupid and make easy targets of ourselves, as you rightfully point out in the closing paragraphs of this newsletter, but I hope the liberty movement loses that awful attitude (which seems to be creeping up again and again lately) of giving up before we start or assigning omnipotence to psychopaths – which, ironically, is a major goal of the psychological warfare we have been attacked with repeatedly over the years. Your articles and newsletters have awakened me to this 4th gen warfare. THIS is the roll out of everything we have studied and warned about for years and decades. THIS is why we studied, prepped, prayed, and prepared.
Just like during the American Revolution, there will be a handful of cowardly people that are sunshine patriots (or sunshine preppers) that love the idea of being prepared to fight but when it comes down to the real deal they start crying about how “this is what the elites want” and we are “playing into their hands.” If a straight fight was what the globalists wanted then they would have tried to confiscate guns years ago. They want the majority of conservatives to sit back and do nothing; that is their goal. They do not want a widespread rebellion.
I know in Iraq and Afghanistan insurgents would use regular handheld radios to communicate while we were operating in our sector. Even though we had the capability to monitor these comms, they were left mostly undisrupted because trying to translate what the hell they were saying wasn’t easy. Maybe someone in intelligence was in charge of monitoring their line of site radio comms, but we mostly ignored it. This might be true in a situation that we might find ourselves in in the future. The powers that be aren’t exactly the most high speed individuals that they are made out to be in movies. So, even low power line of sight radios could come in handy in a collapse scenario, and as long as everyone is speaking in code then it might not be that big of a deal.

You are correct. SIGINT assets can try and pinpoint you, but this process is nowhere near as fast as some preparedness “experts” make it out to be. I have actually had people tell me that the moment I key up my handheld radio that within 45 second I’ll be hit with a rain of artillery. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard when it comes to comms and I’m not sure where it comes from. Any cursory research on SIGINT will tell you that pinpointing insurgent comms is a PAIN unless the military already has multiple ground and air assets in close proximity, and even then it takes more than 45 seconds. Beyond that, they can’t just waste expensive ordnance on every single stray transmission that MIGHT be an insurgent. We can only hope they are that dumb, because then they could be baited to waste ordnance on a $50 radio set up to re-transmit from a random hilltop far away from you.
Also, using code, encryption and frequency hopping makes identifying the content of the transmissions almost impossible. I think what has happened is that DARPA has been highly effective in spreading false narratives about their actual capabilities, and the more paranoid preppers have bought into all those Popular Mechanics articles talking about the “all seeing eye” of modern militaries.
That makes sense. It seems like “THEY” would be able to pinpoint you and drops bombs fast, but from my own experience on the ground in Iraq it seemed like they just completely ignored their comms and relied on other types of intel for target packages. Plus, all the highspeed individuals who are going to be targeting anyone will likely have been kicked out or left on their own accord when this all kicks off and the only ones left will be the high ranking turd officers and the turd lower enlisted. Seems like “they” would try to keep around somebody who was competent, but I guess all they really care about is control.
It would also be pretty easy to determine when it’s a bad time to transmit. If you are surrounded by ground assets for example, you’re obviously not going to send a long voice transmission. At most you would send an HF packet burst and then get out of dodge, if you absolutely had to get word out. I know the Taliban were even using old school wireless phones to talk to each other, kind of like makeshift CB radios. Clearly the SIGINT assets were not very helpful in stopping them.
Any recommendations for DMR radios? I feel like I saw some months ago, but don’t remember for sure.
I’ve heard that the Baofeng DM-1701 DMR is a good option for way less money than most other brands, and it has encryption. That said, most DMRs have some kind of encryption option, but they can get expensive. I expect you would not need more than four (for patrol leaders), and perhaps a DMR repeater if you can get one that is compatible.
Something else I think contributes to the liberty movements paranoia about comms is Hollywoods exaggeration of the government’s capacity to track communications; just like they tend to do with anything else the government or the military is supposed to be capable of doing. It’s likely they aren’t capable of even a fraction of what Hollywood claims, especially with comms tracking.
I think the Hollywood depictions of thermal imaging really exemplify that kind of propaganda. Almost every single movie and TV show with the CIA or NSA shows them using thermal satellites to peer straight through trees, walls and bunkers to identify enemy troops moving around in real time. I spent a decade debunking that nonsense and creating my thermal suit to prove the narrative wrong. And yet, I bet you will still run into liberty people today that think thermal is magic and can see through anything. It’s the same problem with comms; the Hollywood fantasy has overpowered people’s logic.
Do you think the methods the military use for SIGINT against insurgent comms can be used against them?
They could be used to misdirect them, or to set a trap.
I really like being able to read these discussions and am glad you open it up to the world. When you write, “Some ground rules: 1) Please stick to the subject matter of the newsletter” perhaps you could include what that subject matter is in the header for those of us who don’t get your newsletter & wish to participate or at least so readers know what the subject is?
Just a thought. I totally understand if you still do not. The obvious is, get the newsletter, right. It’s on my To Do list, somewhere.
Well, the discussions are mainly for subscribers. Though, I guess adding the subject of the featured newsletter wouldn’t hurt.
Discussion is now closed on Issue #64. Thanks to all those subscribers who participated. If you missed out on this issue or would like to subscribe to The Wild Bunch Dispatch to receive future issues, visit the subscription page HERE.
Issue #65 will be released on October 21st.
I subscribed in time for #65, but I really want to read #64. Any way to get it?
Thanks.
