For preppers and patriots the combat loadout strategy has remained rather static for the past decade. There was an initial surge in new developments and better made rifles in the 2010s, along with a spike in new and exceptional optics. For a while, though, most of the “new” technology has been reboots of common items. In certain markets (like night vision gear), preppers have been waiting for advancements that never really come.
That said in the past two years there have been some interesting developments in combat technology available to Americans that need to be discussed. In the 2010, I remember a lot of Fudds still arguing that iron sights were the superior setup for a SHTF rifle. Now that thinking has finally and rightfully died in the wake of military grade optics on the wider civilian market. Today, we need to hold onto gear that works but refrain from getting stuck in a rut. In the next issue of the Wild Bunch I’ll talk about some of the new developments that I think might change the way we prepare for crisis and self defense.
