There are certain events in history that change a generation and their behaviors for the rest of their lives. No, I’m not talking about 9/11-style tragedies – I’m talking about economic disasters. The Great Depression was one of those events and none of us can quite grasp the magnitude of it because none of us lived through it. I believe the same will be said of our generation 100 years from today.
In the next issue of the Wild Bunch we’re going to do something a little different and consider our preparedness “mindset.” Lets look back at how our great grandparents dealt with the global economic collapse of their era and then examine the ways in which our situation is much more precarious. Mental toughness is key; the ability to forge ahead through adversity without giving up and without becoming fatalistic in the process. Finally, we’ll discuss the methods they used to survive the disaster and how we might be able to learn from their example.
