There has been a clear shift in the way the majority of Americans view the security of their communities and country in recent years, much further to the preparedness side of things than even I expected. Survival methodologies are becoming a mainstay among conservatives, but the next most obvious step has not been taken yet: The revival of local militias.
In the next issue of the Wild Bunch I will be exploring how this might come about, including the basic structures that would have to be in place for community militias to grow and thrive. There are a lot of smaller steps that need to be taken and even though many patriots would support the idea (in theory), people are far from ready to organize and this is a serious obstacle. Our society has been so far separated from concepts of local citizen security that we almost need to rediscover how to make it work. That said, I believe militias are going to be a natural development in the near future and we need to be ready.
