Is There A Way To Prevent Psychopaths From Getting Into Positions Of Power?

January 6, 2022

By Brandon Smith

Despite a growing resurgence of interest in the science and psychology of narcissistic sociopaths and psychopaths it seems as though society today has lost track of how these people can sabotage the core fabric of a civilization or nation. It is very easy to hyper-focus on collectivist ideologies as the source of our problems and forget that these ideologies do not function in a vacuum; they cannot wreak havoc by themselves, they need psychopathic people directing them to do real damage.

There is something about collectivism that lends itself to projection and hypocrisy (collectivism is organization by FORCE instead of being voluntary). I suppose when your political ideology becomes your religion it’s easy to turn into a zealot. And while zealots find power in their single-mindedness and their cultism they also tend to lack any self-awareness. They literally go insane with devotion to their cause to the point that they lose track of whether or not their cause is fair and just. Their behavior becomes increasingly erratic and disjointed and every person they run into that does not share their views is immediately seen as a heretical enemy that needs to be exposed or destroyed.

To outsiders looking in, zealots are an endless source of comedy. You can’t help but laugh because their ticks and cricks and outbursts are nonsensical and absurd (just check out “Libs Of Tik Tok” for a mountain of examples). As long as they don’t have any real power these people act as a reminder of what happens when human beings abandon reason for madness. They can be frightening but they serve the purposes of entertainment as well as keeping the rest of us grounded. When they do gain power, however, that’s when things stop being funny.

Civilizations throughout history have consistently dealt with the problem of zealots, but the greater threat is the existence of narcissists and psychopaths sneaking into positions of authority and encouraging zealotry among the masses. Generally, psychopaths are seen as an anomaly which is quickly identified and shunned in order to prevent them from climbing too high up the ladder of social influence. The problem is they are not as rare as one might hope and many of them have the ability to hide among the herd.

Around 1% of any given population is made up of psychopaths while another 1% are sociopaths. Around 5% of people are identified as having narcissistic traits. Narcissists are self absorbed and view themselves as superior to everyone else – They believe they are entitled to adoration and authority. Sociopaths have an inability to feel empathy for others and this makes them impractical as leaders. Psychopaths also exhibit a lack of empathy but also have a propensity for emotional or physical violence. They take joy in the suffering of others and perpetrate a large number of violent crimes.

Even though psychopaths are 1% of the population, they make up 15% to 25% of those incarcerated in prisons. The drag they exert on society cannot be overstated.

There is definitely some overlap among the various types, but in general close to 10% of human beings exhibit dangerous and mostly inherent psychological malfunctions that are often not treatable. Think about that for a moment – 10 out of every 100 people are ticking time bombs waiting to make life miserable for the rest of us.

To be sure, some of them are still able to function in society. Sociopaths in particular can become valuable in fields where less empathy is required in order to accomplish certain tasks. They are particularly well suited as surgeons, EMTs, soldiers, firefighters, and any other job where seeing people in pain is not going to stop them from saving lives. They don’t necessarily take joy in seeing others harmed, but they aren’t emotionally phased by it either. As long as they are never allowed into positions of influence over large groups of people they can serve some good for the public.

History shows us that vetting and preventing psychologically broken individuals from slipping into institutions that offer power is not so easy. In fact, many monarchies and empires were built on systems that allowed psychopaths and narcissists to flourish because they relied on genetic succession. If a monarch had a son that was predisposed to psychopathy it did not matter, that crazed prince would one day become a king and there was little that could be done about it. There was no vetting process. Also, many such traits are passed on genetically, which means a power structure built on heredity could become progressively more destructive as psychopaths in royalty intermarry. This would help explain why psychopathic behavior is over-represented among monarchs of the past.

The creation of democracy and democratic republics was in part designed to help weed out aberrant individuals by using open elections and the voting process. In other words, let the people scrutinize candidates and remove the crazies from circles of power. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work too well if ALL the candidates are psychopaths and the public has no real choice. By extension, psychopaths have also found ways to circumvent the political process and control it without directly participating in it.

The corporate world and financial institutions allow psychopaths to influence politics from behind the curtain, buying off candidates and their loyalty or vetting candidates and ONLY allowing those with similar sociopathic, narcissistic and psychopathic habits through the selection process and into the political arena.

In tribal societies and in smaller low-tech societies the ability to identify and root out psychologically broken individuals and prevent them from becoming leaders was easier. In the midst of vast empires and technocracy it is much simpler for psychopaths to hide among normal people and blend in. I usually compare invasive psychopaths to mythological stories of vampires for this reason. I really can’t think of a better analogy. They insinuate themselves into a population, take up positions of influence which protect them from suspicion and then systematically bleed the town dry. This is what they do. It is in their nature and they cannot be fixed, they can only be removed as a parasite is removed from a host.

These people are the top threats to any given civilization. They are moderators of chaos and they actively conspire to supplant free society. They are what I would call primary organized psychopaths and they do indeed work together for mutual gain, much like a pack of wolves. They represent the 1% of the 1% (i.e. the globalists).

Psychopaths at the top of the pyramid have been organized for a long time, but what about the millions of other people out there with such traits? What happens when they are given a way to congregate?

Modern society and Big Tech social media have created even worse circumstances because now the greater psychopathic community is no longer isolated. That 1% that used to be mostly relegated to quiet corners and the fringes of humanity are now able to organize into aggressive mobs of hundreds of thousands, leading millions of lesser sociopaths and narcissists. This is creating a subculture of what I would call communal insanity – As the old saying goes, the patients are taking over the asylum.

We see this specifically with the political left and the open promotion of narcissism as an acceptable way of life.  This is not to say that psychopaths don’t try to infiltrate conservative circles as well, only that leftists are much more welcoming to their kind. These are people that once felt powerless because they were shunned and now they want revenge.

The thing is, they were originally shunned from influence for a very good reason; they are not psychologically equipped to handle any measure of power. Now they are being handed institutional control and they are being whipped into a frothing frenzy. They see themselves as the underdogs and the “revolutionaries”, but really they are just emotionally stunted and handicapped and they were put in permanent time-out to protect the rest of humanity.

But how is this danger dealt with, not just in the short term but the longer term?

Our culture has to be fundamentally changed with psychopathy and other aberrant traits in mind. We can no longer ignore the effect these people have on humanity as a whole. The first step would require separation from movements and institutions that promote psychopathic and narcissistic behaviors. In other words, we need to return to a model of isolation for the psychopathically inclined instead of treating them as if they are some kind of victim status group that needs special attention and “nurturing.”

As noted, in many cases these characteristics are inherent (inborn) and cannot be treated. There is no fixing the problem because it is not so much an illness as it is a completely different psychological structure. They might as well be a different species, and a predatory one at that. There is no mutual coexistence with them. They see us as food.

Candidates for positions of authority would have to be screened for psychopathy, narcissism and sociopathy. If they have too many of the warning signs then they should not be allowed to pursue those jobs. This is the only answer beyond fundamentally changing the way our election system functions, which I’m not necessarily opposed to either. A random lottery system for government jobs along with strict term limits (not just for normal political positions but also in bureaucratic positions) would at least be better than what we have now. I would rather risk the possibility of less qualified people being randomly chosen for government than have a system that attracts a concentrated culture of malicious parasites.

What better way to discourage psychopaths than to take away any long term benefits of working in government? What better way to disrupt the influence of corporate elitists than to take away their ability to finance or choose the candidates that end up in office? And even if they were able to buy off some officials, with term limits they would have to start over and over again with the latest crop of new officials.

Some will of course point out that changing the system tomorrow will require getting rid of the psychopaths that run it today. I agree, it’s a dilemma. Sadly, once psychopaths become organized and entrenched history tells us they will not be moved without the force of violence. They don’t care about protests, they are not moved by reason or logic, they don’t care about the suffering of the masses and they will always see themselves as the rightful rulers of us “lesser” peasants.

They derive supremacy from the mobs of the stunted that they lead and exploit; the nearly 10% of the population that when organized becomes an army of raging mad hatters hungry for scraps from the table of power. We can and should continue to separate from the collectivist mob and the zealots, but all psychopaths view separation as defiance and will try to interfere. Eventually there’s going to be a fight, and maybe that’s for the best.

I suppose the problem with “the fight” that is inevitable is that it will be fought to install yet another government. Lather rinse repeat.

I see no hope of the people ever waking up to the government scam, especially since they now have 24/7 propaganda for the masses to nurture the mental illness required to make people act against their own self interest.

There will always be some form of government, and this is where the Anarchists get it wrong – They think government itself is the problem, and that is incorrect. The problem is psychopaths in government. Getting rid of the psychopaths will solve most of our problems. Keeping government in check and keeping it small will solve the rest of our problems.

What if the psychopath aligns with my ideology? Isn’t that person then my greatest ally?

No, it makes you the enemy because psychopaths only subscribe to destructive ideologies.

True anarchism as in fully self governing (in the tiny few examples that exist) has always been intriguing to me but, as I’ve become older and hopefully wiser the reality I’ve come to is that self government on any scale bigger than a village or tribe is unlikely and that is in my opinion because you are always dealing with what this article is addressing which is human traits that are often disruptive to cohesive voluntary society. There obviously is no easy answer or solution to government but clearly what we have happening now is not working. I think smaller and decentralized is the answer to this centralized monstrosity.

I wonder what share in psychopathy you attribute to the fact that they control and exploit the credit system, and most of the remaining 99% do not even understand it.

        • Paul January 6, 2022 at 2:28 pm

You should be able to reason and know what they look like and who they are. Ideology has nothing to do with it.

        Great article
I’ve been saying this for years – psychopaths are the biggest danger we have.
There is a good psychopath test already developed by a Canadian doctor – I read a book about how he wrote it – it’s very good I think it’s called The Psychopath Test
They are easy to spot once you learn what to look for. They are potentially extremely destructive – since they don’t and cannot care about anyone – there is no limit to destruction they will do if given a chance.
I have 2 degrees in Psychology but the best practice I got with them was about 8 years spent in LA.
The solution is to get more people to read books on the subject – THe Sociopath Nextdoor is a good one or Without Conscience (by the inventor of the psycho test – Robert Hare).
Psychopaths tend to run away from anyone who seems to understand their sickness. I have a lot of personal experience with this – especially in LA or London where I lived and studied. They tend to be very cowardly – they tend to move to easier targets as soon as they think you figured them out – their mental sickness.
They call it personality disorder because it cannot be cured. They never change.
So from my own very rich experience as a Psychopath Slayer, I think educating people is the most important (because Pedowood has successfully brainwashed people to think you must be a serial killer to be a psycho – which is BS – most psychos are quiet and charming – fake charm I mean – acting is their number one tool as is gaslighting)
Another tool is a mandatory psychoapath test for politicians, CEOs and other potentially very destructive positions.
Also don’t forget certain ‘cultures’ are structured like a Psychopath Support Group…they scale up their sickness and are the most destructive.

Just as many employers require psychometric testing, this should also be a requirement before running for office. It would require an entity/or preferably a volunteer organization to coordinate it’s structure and psychologists, yet once in place and accepted, the results could be used for screening out psychopathy personalities.

    • FarmerChet January 6, 2022 at 10:02 am

Oddly, many vocations require an oath as a promise to do no harm or to uphold laws and rights.
Most people who have taken an oath seem to ignore it every day.
Notice how judges wipe their asses with the rights of citizens?

    • Juri January 6, 2022 at 12:55 pm

Well, we have already corona passports. Why not use them and demand that on most jobs you must provide annual mental health certificate ? They wanted medical passports, let them have one. We need some global liberal avoidance system anyway .

    • skaebne January 8, 2022 at 7:09 am

Unfortunately, you are proposing a tyranny of psychologists. Who designs the tests? Who interprets the results? Nowhere does Mr. Smith entertain the possibility that even if psychopathy is innate (something unproven), there might be psychpathic personalities that also have principles.
Obviously, if psychopathy is such a strongly conserved trait, it must have survival value to the larger population, and the author even suggests why this is so: We need people in many critical professions who can make rational dicisions in stressful situations without their thinking being clouded by emotion. The author presents us with a false dichotomy: Either people’s thinking is inextricably influenced by emotion (empathy) or they cannot be trusted to make humane decisions.

You have misunderstood the point, sadly. The tests for psychopathy are ALREADY designed and have been in existence for many decades now, they just need to be applied to people entering government, which they are not. There is no “tyranny” by psychologists because the psychologists don’t control the outcome of the test. The results aren’t “interpreted” they just are; either you have the common traits or you don’t. If anything, the general public can look at the results and determine for themselves if a candidate is mentally unstable.

Also, I suggest you read the article again because at no point do I say psychopaths serve a purpose in society. I said that some SOCIOPATHS can serve a purpose in society, just not in government; please learn the difference between the two. Finally, there is no false dichotomy – I think I made it clear, psychopaths should not be allowed into power under any circumstances. Your final point is nonsensical; at no point do I assert that empathy is the same as being “inextricably influenced by emotion,” that is a baseless opinion you created in your own mind.

I have to say, I remain very suspicious of anyone that is against the idea that people in government should be tested for psychopathic tendencies. It seems like it should be common sense, but certain people are triggered by the notion…hmm…

        • Soldier January 10, 2022 at 1:27 pm

These people are liars. You don’t think they can know the correct answers to the test to fake their way in? Otherwise how are these tests administered? You should pictures of dead bodies to see what kind of brain activity they have?

          • Avatar photo
Brandon Smith January 10, 2022 at 1:55 pm

The tests root out liars, look up how they are administered before commenting. They are very difficult to fool.

        • Soldier January 11, 2022 at 6:03 pm

But surely not impossible to fool? I mean in theory its multiple choice right? What is to stop these people from threatening the test giver or stealing the test results or switching the test results with someone more holy?

          • Avatar photo
Brandon Smith January 11, 2022 at 6:19 pm

They aren’t able to do that now, so what makes you think they would be able to do it with a system in place specifically to find them and prevent them from entering government? There’s no trick that you can think of that psychologists have not already thought of first. Also, by making the test results public and open source this helps to prevent any conspiracy.

  • Mike January 6, 2022 at 9:02 am

Good observation , you are correct . There are many narcissist psycho’s influencing people.

  • John January 6, 2022 at 9:21 am

Sure. Just do like we used to do at the state and local levels: Require a Christian religious test for office holders.

    • Avatar photo
Brandon Smith January 6, 2022 at 9:25 am

That wouldn’t solve the problem. There are plenty of psychopaths that slip into the church, just look at the Pope. You would have to test for psychopathic traits regardless of the religion the person running for office believes in.

      • John January 6, 2022 at 9:31 am

It worked in the early part of the U.S. They didn’t have nonsense like Drag Queen story hour or corporations that were “legal persons” which led to monopolistic control of their particular industries. All of that came later.

No, it didn’t. There were plenty of psychopaths in US government for the past couple of centuries, how do you think we got to the point we are at today? This problem is not recent, it started many decades ago, and being “Christian” is not something you can test. Any psychopath can claim to be Christian.

          • John January 6, 2022 at 9:46 am

No, they are just bad in a different way. Go back to the era of the Catholic Inquisition run by psychopaths and times were MUCH worse than they are today. Tyranny comes in waves and dissipates after rebellion. It has NOTHING to do with how many people claim to be Christian. This is reality. Accept it.

          • Tomo January 8, 2022 at 3:25 am

they say (in a few books on the subject of psychos) that the world’s psycho capitals are London, NYC and LA – I’ve lived in all – London is the worst by far

      • Alexandra Smith January 6, 2022 at 9:43 am

True, once the church became ‘official’ all sorts of wrongs were commited, however, there are guidelines in the letters about a leader should be sober (no drunkeness and serious about his job), husband of one wife, children who behave themselves, etc. I believe much of this is studied today by employers to see what sort of attitudes and reputation any main employee may have. I don’t know how much allowance is given for all this as society accepts a great deal today which wouldn’t have been tolerated 50 years ago.

The problem is the psychopaths were easily able to PRETEND they were following all those rules. They always have a public persona to trick the masses. Just look at how many priests have been caught molesting children over the past few decades. Remember, these people are like vampires, they blend in with the population. Testing for psychopathic traits is the only way to root them out of positions of power. Asking them if they are Christian solves nothing.

          • Tomo January 8, 2022 at 6:02 am

fake charm and pretending to be ‘just like you!’ (their victims) are their main tools.
you never see this clarified in Pedowood movies where we are made to think that to be a psycho you have to be a serial killer.
In reality only a small percentage of them are.
Most are full of fake charm, great actors, masters of mirroring their victims and gaslighting.
Ideally they love to pretend they are somehow victims (and their victims are somehow the predators – it confuses the shit out of normal people who simply cannot believe anyone would lie so much and to such extent. )
Psychos know this well and that’s exactly why they use this trick. They are masters of turning your own goodness against you so to exploit or destroy you for fun and profit.

      • David Homer January 6, 2022 at 10:45 am

There could also be a problem with psychopaths slipping in to the psychiatric profession and becoming the ones who administer the tests. This would allow them to choose who is allowed to be put into public office. Just like large corporate CEOs do now.

A modern psychopathy-test including brainscan under certain stimuli is absolutely necessary for those who are in – or crave for positions of POWER & CONTROL especially (to begin with) in government.
They do have a socalled ‘alien mindset’ and it operates like “not of this planet” or a deadly virus in human form.

    • Chevrus January 6, 2022 at 12:37 pm

Kinda reminds me of the scene in Blade Runner when Leon is getting tested for a job…as I recall it doesn’t end well.

This would explain how slavery has existed as an institution for as long as it has. It could only have existed through institutional and governmental intervention.

  • realwesterner January 6, 2022 at 12:03 pm

Paraphrasing HL Meinken, eventually we get the government we deserve. We’ll quit having psychopaths rule over us when we quit playing dupe to their lies, charisma, political correctness, and criminality-in-a-$200-haircut-and-a-$900-suit. We can’t seem to do that though as a society. We are chained to our tormentors by…what? Is it poor self worth? Do we-as-a-society believe we deserve such ill treatment? In some cases this is very, very true. I believe it is often a lack of discernment. Worst of all though, are all the mini-psychos that live vicariously through the psychopathy of the psychopaths that in fact rule over us. To be free of psychopathic rulers, we have to be freed of the psychopaths around us.

    • Avatar photo
Brandon Smith January 6, 2022 at 12:12 pm

We have only come to understand psychopathy in the past few decades. Before that, there were psychologists like Carl Jung trying to warn the public but these things take time to gestate. It’s not that we get the “government we deserve” so much as we get the government we are tricked into accepting. Blaming the victims is not going to help our current situation. Only now in our modern era do we finally have the tools to identify these people and filter them out from positions of power. The problem is, we can’t build a new system based on identifying psychopathy until we root out the monsters already in government and in positions of influence. It’s going to take a lot of work and sacrifice.

      • Adrian January 6, 2022 at 4:03 pm

        Indeed.
According to Lobaczewski e.a.: ANY (I repeat: ANY) group of humans can be infected or “ponerized” by the psychopath’s influence. From families, clubs, churches, businesses, and corporations, to entire nations. The most extreme form of such macrosocial evil is called (psycho) “pathocracy”.
The ultimate cause of evil lies in the interaction of two human factors:
        1) NORMAL (!) human ignorance and weakness and
        2) the existence and action of a statistically small (4-8% of the general population) but *extremely active* (no morals/no true and normal emotional world = nothing else to do….) group of psychologically DEVIANT individuals.
The ignorance of the existence of such (!) psychological differences is the first criterion of ponerogenesis. That is, such ignorance creates an opening…..whereby such individuals can act undetected.

  • Citizen Bob January 6, 2022 at 1:44 pm

Spot on. Narcissists cannot help but reveal themselves at some point. The TV show “Arrested Development” comes to mind. We are all born narcissistic and remain so until the age of reason, historically about 5-6 years old. Unfortunately some do not transition to the next step, empathy. What I want to say to these unfortunate souls is something I learned as a child 60 years ago and still applies today, “What you say is what you are”. As you intimate Brandon, the left works the fringes until they can get to the center and obtain control. The same Left clamored for freedom in the sixties, but is seeking to restrict freedoms for all those not willing to tow the line. I firmly believe this is a spiritual battle between good and evil. Yes, this Pope is causing confusion and division, hallmarks of the demonic. However, as a Catholic, my ultimate allegiance is to Jesus Christ who is the head of the Church. It is to Him whom I look to for my marching orders as a Christian soldier. Thanks again for the good read.

    • Steve January 16, 2022 at 12:08 pm

Good points, Bob. My only “quibble” is that narcissists are not psychopaths. For example, I feel that Boris Johnson is a raging narcissist but not a psychopath. That’s why I fear that, much as I despise him, if he gets kicked out, he will be replaced by a REAL psychopath. Talking of genuine psychopaths, one popped up in Congress last week from way back: Dick Cheney. Ticks all the boxes!

Hey Bob, I agree with your points, but would only make one little edit…“What you DO is what you are” as many people (perhaps especially politicians) virtual signal one thing, and then do another.

That’s because there’s no such thing as a permanent solution to tyranny – It’s a never ending battle fought by select generations in select eras. We beat back the psychopaths and then a century later they pop up again using different tactics. This is why, for example, it’s annoying when people complain about the “failure” of the Constitution to protect us. The constitution was just one battle in an ongoing war that WE are now responsible for. It’s not the job of the constitution to protect us, it’s our job to protect the constitution. At least today we know who the psychopaths are behind the curtain; that’s more knowledge than any generation before us has had.

      • Mark January 7, 2022 at 5:22 am

You are right. Just for clarity, in my defense, I have never said that the Constitution has failed, the failure is clearly human as you stated.

Yes, I was only using that as an example of the idea that “revolutions fail” that I hear from people often. It’s not that revolutions fail, it’s that the fight against tyranny is perpetual. Though, there is a chance we might be able to stop that fight for a very long time if the globalists and their organized power structure are erased. They are rarely targeted directly in history.

      • bhk4usa January 7, 2022 at 7:00 am

There is no permanent solution to tyranny which is why the majority of society that does suffer from these mental abnormalities must always be vigilant and aware. The problem is that much of that majority including me (hopefully I do not fall into one of the abnormal groups) just want to live our lives peacefully in our small ‘tribes’.

Being constantly vigilant and aware of what is happening in the greater collective takes a lot of effort that many do not have in reserve while living ‘locally’. Unfortunately this is what leads to the constant cycle of build up to explosion, violent restoration of the norm, and repetition. We just happen to have been ‘blessed’ to be experiencing one of the times as we watch the volcano approach erruption.

This is why we need a new system that detects and filters out psychopaths BEFORE they get into positions of power. This idea needs to become ingrained in our traditions and the way we structure society. That way, we can prevent the build up that you describe. This doesn’t mean these people wouldn’t be allowed to exist, they just can’t be allowed in government or in authority. If you can’t pass a basic screening test for psychopathy then you don’t get past a certain point. You don’t get to be a cop, you don’t get to be the mayor or on the city council, you don’t get to be in the FBI, you don’t get to run for governor or senator or president. I would rather cut off 1% of the population (psychopaths) from government than end up with what we have now, which is that 1% ruling over the other 99%.

What about starting by taking away from hem the credit tap, as a basis for a political , popular movement (not yet another party) aimed at actually putting and end to a rotten system? We are living through the renewal of a system that only those psychopaths and their best paid servants understand. And they are the ones doing the renovation in order to perpetuate the credit privilege. Richard A. Werner is responsible for some light on the matter, and the German banker that wrote to him in 2013-2014. Hence a good share of the turmoil. Psychopathy is also a significant part of the entertainment dose goven by the elite to their ripped-off masses. Far less significant than credit.

Your idea of a lottery to select public office holders is pure genius. Combine that with a constitutional prohibition of public office holders or their families from accepting any kind of gifts during or after holding office from anyone outside of their family and we would go a very long way towards eliminating corruption in our government. Given how stupid and corrupt our politicians are in general already, there would be no danger of consequence to randomly selected people serving in public office. In fact, the benefits would far exceed any risks or hazards in such a system.

Focusing on the psychopath does not address the current larger systemic problem which is the very existence of such ‘Positions of Power’.

    • Avatar photo
Brandon Smith January 7, 2022 at 2:05 pm

I already addressed this flawed thinking in the article. There will always be some form of government. There will always be people that make decisions that will affect you whether you like it or not. But, we can make sure those people are not mentally broken and prone to abuse of power. Focusing on the system alone will do nothing to solve the problem. Only by focusing on psychopathy can we address the problem. There will never be an anarchy based system that will not end in total disaster exactly because inherent psychopaths exist.

  • HMark January 8, 2022 at 4:42 am

There are important issues raised here and it would be beneficial to start such a discussion with a definition of important terms such as psychopath, sociopath and narcissist. Those three mental conditions are also relevant to everyday social interactions. Being aware of them may also be helpful in avoiding undue stress and interpersonal conflict.

“Being aware of them may also be helpful…”
This line of thinking will lead to even more corrupt bureaucracies (Ministry of Character Development) & a further concentration in the ‘Positions of Power’. The Ministry will allocate a reduction of social points if their citizen (legal fiction) falls within the PSN range. The root of the problem is the concentration of power, we need a framework that dilutes that power is all I’m saying. Peace, One Love.

  • Atman January 8, 2022 at 6:44 am

    Brilliant insights.

It puzzled me for many years why so many cling to Marxist and socialist ideologies. This despite the long record of failure and misery they create. I wondered how those same people seem invulnerable to any argument or evidence. I long believed it was some error in thinking, or a “conflict of visions,” as Thomas Sowell sees it. After all, rational people can disagree, no need to label people as “evil” or “insane” because of honest differences.

But if you assume narcissism, then it makes perfect sense. The narcissist WANTS to create misery, takes glee in being the cause, and is psychologically driven to do so. His ideology is the display case to sell the poison pill. And in any hierarchy of power, the psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists will easily out-compete the more moderate and genuinely civic-minded who think to serve through political action. Their ability to charm, lack of conscience, and pure ruthlessness make them superior competitors in rising through the system.

I encourage you to take this a step further. What if all ideology–not just the left’s–is a “fake because” of psychology, the left brain’s rationale of deeper and often unexamined motivations.

  • Bob January 8, 2022 at 7:26 am

Here is the real issue – is there any reason apart from our own personal security we should actually care. We are living in twisted times under the thumb of the very people you have described. It seems that people that ascribe to being in power suffer from multiple psychosis and we have now, for two fucking years, watched that game being played out around the planet. Fascinating and IMHO there is no way out short of feet-on-the-ground conflict. Like the lemmings have gone wild and need to be reminded that the path they are on is not rewarding.

Our issue however is to be able to grasp what the alternatives may be when we are surrounded by the zealots and their masses. Just to think of how this ship would turn short of a major slap in the face of self-serving stupidity, i.e., meteorite, complete dystopic collapse of social order we used to call anarchy. None of this is real and reality rules- always.

I think you need to clarify your point – Are you asserting that nothing can be done? Or, that we should do nothing? Because those are two very different arguments. Also, we are not “surrounded” by psychopaths, that is the great illusion. They are a tiny percentage of the population. The problem is when people refuse to acknowledge their existence and the fact that some of them are involved in an organized conspiracy. We should care because the future matters MORE than our personal security. I would think that was evident.

      • Steve January 16, 2022 at 12:13 pm

Yes, that is exactly what I discussed in the article. I think the main point I was trying to drive home though is that a lot of people that follow psychopaths tend to have their own mental and emotional instabilities. The rest are just people that are afraid to speak up, so they keep their mouths shut and go along too get along (i.e. a large number of Democrats).

  • another fred January 8, 2022 at 7:57 am

“It is a characteristic of all movements and crusades that the psychopathic element rises to the top.” – Robert Lindner

Some anthropologists have noted that there are two types of homicides in primitive societies: people killed by sociopaths and sociopaths who are killed when a group decides to rid themselves of the sociopath.

As it is said in the rural South, “Ain’t no cure but a bullet.” (i.e. the only “cure” is death)

    • another fred January 8, 2022 at 8:05 am

I omitted to qualify the above by limiting the observation to “within group” homicides. Sociopaths are quite valuable when it comes to out-group killing, which is probably one of the reasons they persist in human groups.

  • Steven Quinn January 8, 2022 at 10:50 am

I’m not sure it’s a good idea to retain positions of authority that are attractive to psychopathic and narcissistic types.

In other words, why do we need presidents, governors, etc – these positions are invalidated unless you believe in slavery. Nobody has the right to rule over or force or steal from (or murder, etc) others without their consent. This is why rape is wrong, and taxation is theft.

You solve the problem by eliminating the system of slavery. Then nobody vies for the position of slavemaster so easily. We need people to not believe in being slaves to their governments and in their governments being able to dictate what they may or may not do, massive double standards between rulers and ruled.

Truth is nobody can be trusted with authority like this. The Covid response shows this perfectly. Nobody should accept anyone mandating anything upon them, which is what government is all about. It’s the biggest threat to the planet, to humanity, to liberty, to happiness, to prosperity, to everything.

Let’s all leave the cult of statism headed by psychopaths. There’s no such thing as someone benevolent who wants to rule over you and force you. Stop believing their lies.

There will always be government and there will always be people that make decisions that affect your life. Anarchy is a childish dream that ignores the existence of psychopathy. The ONLY answer is to root out such psychopaths and prevent them from entering positions of authority, or even any positions that could be manipulated as a mean of gaining power. It is a trick to think that by changing the system you are solving the problem – You are not. The only thing that has never been tried is directly identifying and removing psychopaths from governance.

      • 253045 January 10, 2022 at 12:08 am

the answer is to get the State completely out of the economy

  • Bara.ex.nihilo January 8, 2022 at 11:02 am

I too have thought about imposing a litmus test system to root out the mentally dangerous persons from public authority.

It seems to me that this would open a door for a slippery slope. If we have psychological tests for government positions, where does it end? How does society protect itself from the corruption of the testing system?

Could you be denied any job outside of government if now all employers want to test employees? Does this deny the ability for humans to grow out of bad learned behaviors because we are busy trying to protect ourselves from the permanently crazed?

It has been the act of holding persons ACCOUNTABLE for their actions, consistently, that kept a check on behavior. It was an upholding of standards that acted as the boundary wall. This behavior of enforcing accountability seems to have been abandonded by society at large because we all wish to appear “compassionate.”

The acceptance of the lie that you are without compassion for another if you insist on TRUTH is a demonstration as to how long this false definition of “compassion” has endured. It is the weapon that caused us to drop accountability, imo.

This is a complex matter but we could begin a functional change to a better society if we began to insist on traditional definitions, debunk the lies and enforce accountability.

From there, we make the corrections as we see the need. Those corrections must address more than the moment. We can return the the methods of our Founding Fathers for taking in the reality of human nature while looking forward to how policies could be corrutped and use the checks necessary to protect society at large.

But yet again, checks and balances are no good if you do not enforce them.

I think it’s interesting that people try to create these far fetched scenarios in their minds to escape the need for this kind of vetting for government officials. It reminds me of the Libertarian propensity for living in the land of hypotheticals and never taking concrete action because of what MIGHT happen. The psychopaths already control every aspect of government, so how could psychopathic testing be any worse than things already are? Answer: There’s no way. There is no purpose in psychopathic testing outside of government, but all you have to do is to make a constitutional protection that testing is only allowed for government positions. Medical privacy rights apply in all other cases, along with the Bill of Rights. Also, you need to actually look up how testing is administered because none of your concerns apply. No one who insists on “truth” is going to be designated a psychopath because that is not relevant to the testing. If you’re not a psychopath then you have nothing to worry about when seeking a position in government.

Excellent article. Agree tests today are adequate to identify the psychotics; and term limits with no “lifetime benefits” or access as a lobbyist) would potentially have a meaningful impact.

    Supplementing your suggested solutions:

    i) Repeal the 17th Amendment – the states and their governors should have a direct say in the Federal Government.

ii) Repeal the 16th Amendment – the states should negotiate the apportionment financially support the federal government directly (if circumstances warrant and the other states are willing then the illiquid state can borrow from the other states posting real estate and the wealth of its legislators as collateral.)

iii) Eliminate Senate “wrappers” on laws which are then sent to the House.

iv) Required ten members chosen at random from each of the House and Senate to swear under penalty of perjury, removal from office and imprisonment for dereliction of their oath and duty of trust that each bill sent to the President is “to the very best of their knowledge” constitutional with specific reference to the words of the constitution they are relying on (not SCOTUS’ or an academic(s)’ interpretation – the words of the constitution).

    v) Limit the federal government to “no more than” XX% (e.g., 10%) of the economy, except in times of war, as declared by a majority of Congress with at least one house declaring such by a super majority.

vi) Every bill sent to the President shall include a certain “sunset provision” of 5, 10 or 15 years, no extensions; and all administrative and regulatory laws must be opened for re-authorization and public comment every 3 or 5 years.

vii) Limit those in the federal workforce (make federal unions illegal; no lifetime benefits) having the potential for lifetime employment to no more than 10% of the total workforce, the other 90% obligated to serve 2, 5 or 7 year conscription (conscription based on proven employment skills; only second or third generation natural citizens; market salaries).

viii) Repeal the 14th Amendment and all case law and administrative and regulatory rules that rely on “Chevron” case.

ix) Eliminate all federal government functions which duplicate state functions.

    x) Conscription for manning the armed forces based on skills, aptitude and physical fitness (no individuals with identity issues).

xi) Bring back capital punishment for “depraved indifference”, and lifetime commitments for the incorrigible psychotics.

And, as this week’s oral argument before Scotus proved,

xii) Require all justices of any federal court annually to pass a basic intelligence test and the federal bar exam; and before any ruling a timed, 30 minute, current events, multiple choice test on matters of objective fact surrounding the issue before them, the adversarial parties to each submit twenty questions which can but do not have to be from their legal briefs, and to proctor the administration of such test as the judge takes it; test results to be part of the record and a basis for appeal. In the case of Circuit en banc panels or Scotus any member scoring less than 38 of 40 correct answers does not vote and is suspended without pay for 90 days and forfeits, including pro rata share of their “out of session”, pay and benefits.

  • St. Columcille January 8, 2022 at 3:09 pm

The existence of these people with their propensity for seeking positions of power, is the “missing piece” of the puzzle as far as people who say they “don’t believe in conspiracy theories” go.

Anyone who’s dealt with them will know – they can NEVER be trusted, except in the sense that you can trust that they will be deceitful and cruel every chance they get.

Psychopathy and sociopathy and narcissism are really all expressions of the same thing as far as I’m concerned. It exists on a scale, from 9 “extremely dangerous and conniving” to 1 “a bit of a prick”. Something is very different about them. You can just see it once you know how to spot them… especially in highly psychopathic elites like Bezos, Musk, Schwab, Gates (especially Gates…), the Clintons, many other Democrats AND Republicans, Justin Trudeau, Donald Trump (yes, I liked a lot of what he did / said, but he was absolutely a narcissist sociopath… I figured if he wanted to take on the establishment for the glory it would bring him, then that would work out for us!)

As far as the “conspiracy theories” go… only ignorant people with no knowledge of history or human nature, esp. about the existence of these psychopaths “don’t believe in conspiracy theories”.

Yes, what they’re doing does sound crazy. But that’s not because it isn’t happening. It’s because the people doing those things are crazy!

Once you understand how psychopaths always try to step on others to get to the “top”, you can think logically : What else could the top .001% of global elites be comprised of? The Bilderberg, Davos crew would HAVE TO BE a club of psychopaths. Any non-psychopaths would be excluded by them for self-preservation reasons (can’t let anyone with a conscience see what they’re up to and start talking!)

And when they have all the money they’d ever need, they really only need to be the only ones in on the conspiracies. After all, if an organisation doesn’t serve their needs, it doesn’t get funded. Look at all the mainstream media articles about how Bill Gates’ funding controls the direction the W.H.O. takes. Eventually, an unspoken “orthodoxy” (one that when followed protects their funding) begins to be understood, that is why all the globalist organisations use the same lingo and strive for the same things. Because if they don’t, they don’t get funded.

For instance, the head guy at whatever university hospital knows what the W.H.O. or GAVI or whoever wants to see for funding, so any doctor not producing is OUT! There is a group which probably numbers less than 200, billionaire psychopaths, who are all conspiring to seize the planet for themselves in this way. Everyone else playing a part in it is doing so only to preserve their job / funding / prestige.

Good post! Bertrand Russell (who was a bit of a socialist himself) wrote an essay on this subject in 1933, lamenting the rise of Naziism. How indeed to keep the narcissists and sociopaths from rising to positions which they consider their birthright? I don’t think we can, but we can remove them from power. Romania, Christmas 1989 is a good example.

Pure psychopaths are rare but “acting out” behavior is more common now than just 40 or 50 years ago – I have degrees in psychology and rehabilitation services and what I know is that antisocial personality disorder = sociopath = psychopath going from present to past. The diagnostic label changes but the behavior remains the same. Oddly these people are usually physically attractive, the girl next door, used car salesman types. The theory behind this was twofold – inconsistent parental discipline and/or some type of brain defect. If you want to have a look at the classic syndrome read Georgia psychiatrist Hervey Cleckley’s book “The Mask of Sanity” – it is a good read.

Well, they are around 1% of the population, which seems rare but it is actually dangerously prevalent when there is a large population. If you have over 300 million citizens (like the US) that means you also have over 3 million psychopaths. Add to that the ability to congregate and mob up on digital media and they can become a terrible anchor on society. I think it is also important that we further explore the genetic aspect of psychopathy because I think this gets ignored by psychologists because it is uncomfortable. I don’t think we will ever be able to actually identify a psychopath from a mere genetic test or even a brain scan as some scientists believe, but we need to acknowledge that psychopathy tends to follow family trees. This is perhaps why monarchies have been so insanely violent in the past and why the elites of today are so obsessed with eugenics. I think they see themselves as “genetically superior” because of their psychopathy and they want to keep those traits running strong in their children.

Not all of them have biological differences, some of them do. Also, there are people with those brain features that show no psychopathic tendencies, so it would basically be a useless test. The only way to test for psychopathy is to test behaviors and responses.
