Discussion On Wild Bunch Dispatch Issue #50 Starts HERE At 6pm Mountain Time!

March 4, 2021

The Q&A portion of the Wild Bunch Dispatch will be held on this page from 6pm to 7:30pm (Mountain Time) today.  Any questions you might have on the 50th issue please post here and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.  Some ground rules:

1)  Please stick to the subject matter of the newsletter.

2)  This is not a debate forum.  If you have some concerns I’m happy to address them, but I can’t get into a long circular debate while other people have questions.

3)  If I do not respond to your question immediately, don’t freak out.  I’ll get to it, don’t worry.

4)  Try to keep to one or two questions each time you write a post.  Please refrain from essay-long multi-question posts.  It is much appreciated.

I will begin discussion at exactly 6pm Mountain time.  Looking forward to your questions and thoughts on the Wild Bunch Issue #50.  The next issue of the newsletter will be released on March 12th.  If you missed out on this discussion you can still subscribe for the next issue and participate.  For more information on how to subscribe, visit the link HERE.

How exactly would forward observers operate if they try a level 4 lockdown in the USA? Would they be responsible for trying to, hypothetically, discourage folks from putting up isolation facilities, or hypothetically disrupting checkpoints? Not sure how long we have before the next lockdown attempt, especially since the “mutation” theory is ramping up.

I don’t think a lockdown really changes much. The conservative communities that organize will need forward observers to track movements of ANYONE that is seeking to undermine or oppress that community. If there are checkpoints and isolation facilities established right in your area, then your community has already failed to do it’s job. Forward observation would be the least of your worries at that point.

Do you think FO’s could be used to infiltrate enemy territory and keep tabs on them?

Yes, it would be expected that this situation would arise. Although, when you start getting into MACV-SOG tactics then you are going to have high casualties. A guerrilla’s job is to hit and run. Do as much damage as possible as fast as possible to enemy personnel or resources and then leave. Going too far into enemy territory could be counterproductive for forward observers. What you would need is spies.

One of the things I was thinking about regarding tonight’s topic is getting to know as much of your area of operations as possible. Your public, private and locals only trails, forest roads etc. using your dirt bikes, quads, mountain bikes, etc are great ways to explore, I have covered massive swaths of my area in relatively short periods. Linking up with surrounding countries etc. Whilst you are free to move, get out there and enjoy those beautiful far away places, they’ll probably bring you right where you need to go.

Hunting really helps as well. You get to know the backwoods fast.

      • Black Cat March 4, 2021 at 6:48 pm

I used to bow hunt a lot when I was young, never did I know my territory better than then. I also remember that after about a week or two in the woods, my senses began to heighten and your instincts start coming back. I need to get back to it, if for nothing but my own sanity.

When you mentioned the FO needing to be able to shoot more accurately at longer ranges than the enemy, I remembered a video on your old site that stuck in my mind by some guy saying basically if you’re fighting against government thugs the only way to beat them is to be better in the use of violence than them.

I don’t recall that video. Though, Voltaire would say that war is decided not by who has the largest armies, but who has the best shooters.

      • Greg B. March 4, 2021 at 7:04 pm

I think it was deleted for some reason

This is a bit of a crossover from last issue into this one. What are your thoughts regarding swapping out daytime optics for night vision, etc. what do the professionals do in the transition from day over watch to night?

I recommend having a separate rifle setup for night operations.

In lieu of my previous statement, how hard would it be to find a marksmanship school or course that’s better than whatever they’re using in the military or law enforcement?

I don’t know about better, but I think Rex Reviews on YouTube has a pretty good series of videos on the basics and beyond. The main thing is making sure you have a place to practice. If you live out west then you will probably find a spot on public land, but out east it’s hard to practice shooting at anything beyond 200-300 yards unless you are the member of an exclusive range club.

Morning everyone. ? Question?: The training ammunition here in Ca. is scarce compared to the demand. A box of 9mm was 25. when I first started practicing, now is 37. and a long wait in line, hours, before the stores that sell ammunition even open. I’ve called stores across state boarders, Arizona, New Mexico and it’s the same. Other Ca. gun owners have the same idea and are flooding to other states to purchase rounds. Can any one think of a better way, besides moving out of Ca., that can solve this situation for me? ? Thanks. Fantastic information and comments. ? Keep goin’. Stay watchful. Be ready.

            ?

  • Black Cat March 4, 2021 at 7:21 pm

Makes good sense, that way things stay put and your not distracted in the field.

  • Black Cat March 4, 2021 at 7:27 pm

Obviously map and compass are essential, thoughts on handheld GPS? I assume these could be tracked so maybe not so good if/when things become serious but they sure are useful. I’ve used them with good success on my ADV bike rides.
    Thanks for your time.

I wouldn’t use GPS if you are dealing with an advanced opponent. Just look at what happened when data mapping was done with Fitbit; multiple US black sites in the Middle East were exposed because soldiers and covert ops were jogging around the bases and this was clearly visible on the maps.
