The Leftist Obsession With Parler Reveals Their Infatuation With Thought Control

December 2, 2020

This article was written by Brandon Smith

In my recent article ‘Power Is An Illusion, Control Is A Facade’ I outlined the realities behind power structures and how people dominate other people by conditioning them with false assumptions and misplaced fears. For example, many people make themselves easy to control by remaining dependent on governments during crisis events and emergencies; if you actually believe the government will protect you from any and all eventualities then why would you ever learn to protect and provide for yourself? The infantilization of a society makes citizens easy to dominate.

Another example would be instilling a fear of “standing out” among one’s peers – Many people are uncomfortable with the idea of being seen as aberrant or in opposition to the “majority” and will seek to fit in, even when they fundamentally disagree. A ruling elite merely need to manufacture the assumption or impression that the “majority” of the population are in agreement with oppressive measures. Even if this is not the case, the perception of a majority can be used to control those people that would otherwise rebel.

Controlling a population is more about thought control or “perception management” than it is about direct force. Power is an illusion, no large group of people can be controlled by force alone; eventually, they will find a way to wear down the totalitarian system and destroy it. So, the people must be tricked into enslaving themselves and each other. The people must police the very prison they are trapped in, otherwise they could simply walk away anytime they wished. It’s the only way a tyranny can survive in the long term.

The political left and the social justice cult have been particularly interested in the concept of thought control lately, or, at least, they are much more open about discussing their private obsessions these days. I have to say, their rhetoric in not at all surprising, but I think some analysis is needed to understand the root of their ideology and how they are able to rationalize their behavior.

I was watching an interview on MSNBC with an activist (fake journalist) by the name of Ben Collins who almost exclusively produces hit pieces and hatchet jobs on conservatives and the alternative media. His focus is generally on what he calls “disinformation” and “conspiracy theory”; in other words, his job is to identify what totalitarians would refer to as “wrong think”. The discussion centered on the social media website Parler and how it represents a “threat” to our “democracy”. You can see the interview for yourself HERE.

Collins is not all that interesting as an individual and he appears to be more of a mouthpiece than a thinker. His work is very similar to the SPLC’s in terms of tone and lack of tangible arguments; it is basic low brow propaganda revolving around little to no evidence or facts (i.e. propaganda for stupid people as opposed to carefully crafted propaganda designed to trick smarter people). He often uses omission of important details that might provide the viewer or reader with a clearer understanding of the subject matter. That said, this specific interview fascinated me because of how transparent he was in his lies, and how honest he was (perhaps unwittingly) in his agenda.

The initial goal of MSNBC and other establishment outlets was obviously to try to spread disinformation on Parler. When Parler’s traffic began to explode months ago I think the media’s intent was to slow the bleeding from sites like Twitter and Facebook. They were unsuccessful.

Today, there is a deeper issue of thought control involved. Alternative tech sites are going to continue to grow and establishment tech sites are going to continue to shrink. Lackeys and hacks like Collins now have to use a different strategy – Painting conservative platforms as “dangerous threats” to our society, perhaps with the intent of getting them shut down.

First, Collins employs the standard attack that social justice mobs were using to vote brigade the Parler App. When Parler began to receive more widespread attention, leftists conjured false claims that the website was not “user friendly” and that private data was “easily hacked”. Collins then tries to frighten potential conservative users by mentioning that Parler “asks for a drivers license”; of course, what he fails to mention is that this is only when you are applying for a special verification badge. He also fails to bring up the fact that Twitter does the EXACT SAME THING when you apply for “Blue Checkmark” status, and even then, if you don’t have the right politics Twitter is unlikely to give you verification anyway.

Already, Collins has exposed himself as a low credibility analyst; but here is where things get crazy…

As usual, identity politics enters the discussion as Parler is accused of being a haven for “racism”, but not real free speech. Now, I want to reiterate that “racism” and “hate speech” are typical thought control buzzwords of the political left. There is no such thing as “hate speech”, at least not in a constitutional sense. Free speech means you are allowed to say and think whatever you like as long as you are not making direct threats or spreading outright lies about a person to harm their reputation.

In a free society, you are allowed to not like a person because of their skin color or cultural differences. This is the cost of freedom; sometimes people are free to think in ways you disagree with or even abhor.

I abhor communists, but I actually prefer that they be free to make their insane arguments publicly; they only sabotage themselves. Leftists, on the other hand, do not believe in free speech, they believe in selective free speech, and this becomes evident as you watch the Collins interview.

Hate speech is code for “speech that we are allowed to censor”. Leftists view speech that hurts a person’s feelings as being exactly the same as punching that same person in the face or threatening their life. It is a bizarre conflation that we would usually expect to see in the thinking of children, but in this case it is full grown adults acting as if their personal feelings are more important than our freedoms.

In order to disrupt speech that offends their tender emotions, leftists consistently misapply accusations of racism and hate speech as a tool to silence opposition. Everything is racist, according to these lunatics, therefore everything can be censored if they deem it necessary. And, of course, they have declared THEMSELVES the arbiters of what is racist and what is not, therefore they become the arbiters of who gets to speak and what social platforms are allowed to exist.

Collins then laments the idea that debates between conservatives and leftists will no longer be commonplace on websites like Facebook or Twitter because people are migrating to their own political bubbles. Again, what he doesn’t mention is that conservatives and moderates are leaving Twitter and Facebook in droves because they are being censored or suspended from those sites on a regular basis. How can one have a fair debate on Twitter with a leftist when the leftist gets special treatment from the moderators? What if he has the option of flagging everything you say as “hate speech” or “dangerous speech” and having your arguments removed?

As I’ve noted in the past, private property rights do indeed apply to websites, and even though leftists don’t believe in such rights, they will use the private property argument to defend Big Tech censorship. Of course, there is a difference between a megasite like Twitter and other smaller platforms; namely that Twitter and many Big Tech companies enjoy massive tax incentives and welfare from the government. Once there are billions of taxpayer dollars involved in the upkeep of a social media company, I don’t think that their website qualifies anymore as “private property”.

Initially, big tech sites argued that they do not discriminate against users based on their politics, but of course the evidence shows this is a lie. The vast majority of users suspended or banned from Twitter are conservatives according to the data, and not because conservatives are more inclined to violate community guidelines.

Leftists and the MSNBC spin doctors want to keep all debate on the platforms THEY control, that way they can suppress the information they don’t like and give biased advantage to the arguments they agree with. Anyone who is conservative has to self-censor constantly to avoid suspension while leftists are allowed to say almost anything they want without repercussions. Big tech platforms pretend they are neutral ground when they are the utter opposite.

These are typical tactics of socialists/communists/Marxists/collectivists; they are not interested in prevailing in a debate based on facts and evidence. They are not interested in being right, they are only interested in WINNING, and they will use any means available to them to rig the fight in their favor.

Finally, Collins suggests that if conservatives are allowed to migrate onto platforms that do not suppress their viewpoints along with the evidence that supports those viewpoints then there is a danger that they will then find themselves at odds with the “real world” and this will “cause problems in society”.

And here is where we get to the very foundation of thought control – The notion that some thoughts and ideas are “dangerous” or “destructive” and that merely being allowed to talk about them in an open forum could cause conflicts and disruption to society as a whole. By extension, Collins is suggesting that it is not okay for people to have radically different viewpoints at all. So what is the solution? For everyone to think exactly the same within a narrow margin of error?

Yes, that is what the leftists and the establishment want and you can see the beginnings of their Utopia on Big Tech social media; a society in which all citizens are part of a hive mind, an endless echo chamber in which only collectivist ideals are acceptable. Sure, there will be debates, but they will be meaningless fodder.

You will be allowed to argue about which groups are more oppressed, but you will never be allowed to question the idea of the oppression Olympics and their validity. You will be allowed to debate which brand of socialism is most effective, but you will never be allowed to take a stand against socialism as a system. You will be allowed to criticize certain people based on their victim group status, but not others. If you are straight, white and male you won’t be allowed to criticize anyone or anything ever, even if you’re the smartest person in the room.

Collins claims to be worried that internet “echo chambers” will undermine the conservative relationship with reality. Not surprisingly, leftists with the most disturbed and disjointed relationship with reality and logic are trying to elevate themselves as the judge and jury of reality. The schizophrenics want to run the asylum and determine who is “sick”. I think not…

As I have noted in the past, the attacks on websites like Parler are not in and of themselves about Parler. Parler is a lightning rod right now, the leftist reaction to its existence needs to be analyzed and observed because their hypocrisy can be used against them. The leftist mind is collectivist in nature, and they think in terms of plantations; they do not like it when people move freely away from one of their plantations and start their own systems.

This is why they are so infuriated by Parler and sites like it. They see people as property of the collective, and not as individuals with free will that develop their own opinions based on the evidence and facts they collect. For the political left, it’s all about who controls the environment.

Under communist regimes this chattel philosophy is taken to its natural end result; leftists will deny it to their last breath, but this is where we are headed if they get their way. In communist China after the invasion of Tibet a program of ethnic cleansing was instituted. Railroads were built to more easily relocate native Chinese in order to supplant the Tibetan population, and the Tibetans that remained were oppressed and brutalized. You might think that the Chinese would be happy to see the Tibetans leave on their own, but you would be wrong. Instead, the Chinese military set up snipers on the Nepalese border and began shooting any Tibetans trying to cross the mountains.

You see, collectivists, Marxists, leftists, whatever you want to call them, they want submission more than anything else. They want thought control. They want you to WANT to be a part of the hive, and if you don’t then you must be punished or reeducated. You cannot walk away peacefully and live your own life, or start your own website.

Collectivists see any contrary ideals or principles or voices as a threat to their existence, and perhaps they are right. If you think about it, their ideology is so fragile that they have to silence or destroy any and all alternatives. The only way their cult can continue to survive is if people believe there are no other options. The moment people are presented with another choice, they will leave the abusive collective en masse.

Leftists are angry about Parler and they see the alternative media as “dangerous” because it IS dangerous; it’s dangerous TO THEM and their dream of monopoly of thought.

@Brandon, what do you think was/is the reason(s) for the success of long-term totalitarian governments (China, Russia, Middle Ages), etc.? Why/how were/are they able to keep the people controlled and the people don’t throw it off?

I just can’t understand why, if the people can end it, they didn’t/don’t…North Korea for example…how could those people possibly throw off the government there? I guess I understand that if they just sacrificed themselves in human waves, they could eventually overwhelm…but then, that would require extreme determination and self-sacrifice. It seems that power does indeed present a formidable barrier to overthrow.

People are people. Capitulating is what they do. From the days when ancient Israel complained of the wilderness journey and wanted to go back to slavery and the “flesh pots” of Egypt because they loved security more than freedom, throughout history to the present day, people are lazy and have never grown into adulthood. They would rather be taken care of than to care for themselves. They would rather get than give. They would rather have whatever pseudo-safety and security the hive mind offers than freedom and the work ethic and risks it entails.

        We’ll said.
Fear of death as the original fear and all that cascades from that original fear.
Laziness and the want to receive instead of create.

I explained why in my recent article. They were able to convince the citizenry to police themselves and each other for the benefit of the elites. Without the participation of a vast portion of the citizenry, tyranny is impossible to maintain. Even in the examples you listed, rebellions happen constantly.

    • George December 4, 2020 at 6:26 am

Sir: having lived under communism, the answers are not so difficult. First, have stolen elections. Next, no guns in public hands. With haste develop a network of paid public snitches, often including members of your own family ( money or favors will do). When anti-regime people are identified, no proof is needed, remove them and isolate them quickly. There are dozens of controlling mechanisms I cannot describe here.

      Fear is a powerful weapon.

A lot of what you said comes under the 7 Deadly sins as listed in the Bible … “Lust” for power and most of all “Greed”

You are absolutely right … Isolate every one (Lock Down Orders) … Feed them bad information (Fake News Outlets) … and keep ramping up the FEAR of the unknown and invisible enemy (CCP Virus)

  • Gauntlet33 December 2, 2020 at 5:35 pm

@Brandon said, “Everything is racist, according to these lunatics, therefore everything can be censored if they deem it necessary.”

Yup! That’s why I intentionally try to wake people up to these “race card” shenanigans by sarcastically saying, “That’s racist!” when people say something that’s obviously NOT a racist remark, as for example, “I don’t like tacos.”

And yes, alternative, truthful thoughts are very dangerous to these megalomaniac, narcissistic, psychopathic, criminal globalists…guess we’ll just have to continue to spread the truth then.

Anyway, what I’ve noticed is that it’s not that people are stupid, but it’s that the brainwashing is so entrenched that people are often times just too lazy to make the mental effort to figure out what’s what.

    • Wesley December 8, 2020 at 3:50 am

It’s not always wise to mock.
There’s a difference between people who use “fighting racism” as a means to censorship, and people who are sick of prejudice. It’s a terrible thing when the latter don’t recognize the former… but it’s also a terrible thing when we don’t see them apart.
Many of the people who criticize BLM are ivory tower theorists: they are unaware of the suffering of black people and of the atrocities they endure at the hands of police.
Every redneck I know saw the George Floyd videos and thought those cops were criminal scum. Yet they watch/listen to “conservative” news and they view BLM as socialists who are only using race as a smokescreen for a socialist agenda.

Brandon Smith December 8, 2020 at 12:52 pm

No, there is no difference. Almost all social justice warriors seek to censor, that is the reality, and the vast majority of them are socialists/Marxists. Also, there is no “systemic racism” to fight. The idea has been completely debunked over and over again. There is absolutely NO EVIDENCE whatsoever that the cop that killed George Floyd did so because of “racism”. They knew each other from the past and were known to dislike each other, yet BLM and others immediately turned the death from a personal grudge into a race issue. It should have been a police brutality issue. The ivory tower theorists were right along with them supporting the social justice mob every step of the way. I’m not mocking people who are opposed to racism, I don’t like racism either. I’m mocking the people that see racism under every rock and behind every tree when it’s simply not there. I’m mocking the people that want to micromanage the entire world because they think that thought control is the answer to everything. You know, the lunatic cult of leftists…

        • Wesley December 9, 2020 at 4:54 am

          You’re right: it’s a police brutality issue.
But are people really “lunatics” if they believe there’s institutional racism? This country persecuted black people for the majority of its history. The way our school textbooks portray slavery censors it: they almost make it sound like the worst part was the hard work. Few writers can bring into focus the physical and psychological horrors of such institutions as slavery and segregation… and 300+ years of ingrained generational trauma. When did it all vanish without a trace? Sometime shortly after they murdered Martin Luther King Jr.? Only a conniving Marxist would watch the police murder a black man in 2020 and think it had something to do with all that.
Am I a social justice warrior seeking to censor? I don’t think so.
I think you just lump together a whole giant faction of our society as “socialist leftists” without trying to see where they’re really coming from. And you might be buying into that false left-right paradigm a little bit.

Yes, they are lunatics because there is no evidence of institutional racism yet they continually insist that it exists. That is the very definition of lunacy. They consistently point out that slavery existed at one time, as if this is proof of institutional racism today, but this is not a logical argument. White people were used as slaves just as long if not longer than black people in world history. Should white people also claim we are victims of “institutional racism” today so we can get special treatment and “reparations”? The logic is exactly the same. Less than 1% of white people actually owned slaves in America during the slave era, yet ALL white people today supposedly benefit from slavery 200 years ago? Nonsense.

I don’t really know who you are, and you don’t have the option to censor me or anyone else. But, if you owned a big tech company and there were Proud Boys or others criticizing social justice on your site, then yes, I think you would censor them just going by your mentality so far. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in private property rights and private websites have the option to censor whenever they wish, but when all major Big Tech giants are propped up by taxpayer dollars yet still collude to censor one half of the country that is called a monopoly and it is unacceptable.

Again, George Floyd’s skin color had NOTHING to do with his death. Not a thing. To this day no evidence exists that it was racially motivated, only personally motivated. BLM used George Floyd’s dead body like a marionette to provoke a mob. This is what Marxists do; it is classic Marxist strategy.

The reason why I lump all leftists together in the lunatic category is because you all act the same and make the same illogical arguments without presenting any evidence to back your claims. Maybe I’m wrong about a few of you, but not the vast majority of you. Also, you don’t seem to understand what the “false left/right paradigm” is. It DOES NOT mean that there is no left and right on the political spectrum. SJWs are FAR left, and they exist. That is a fact. What it means is that at the TOP of the totem pole, the people in government and in finance are not left or right, they have their own agenda. The Open Society Foundation and the Ford Foundation have been funding the social justice movement for years. They seek to exploit their idiocy and turn them into an army. They have succeeded. Now there is no distinguishing SJWs from the enemy. They have become minions of the enemy, therefore they are ALSO the enemy. It’s as simple as that.

I’ve heard it said and armed society is a polite society. I guess everyone who wishes to be left alone by tyrants should arm themselves. But let the first thing in this situation our nation is currently involved in is to involve our knees, and hearts in Ernest PRAYER. Our relationship to GOD, is actually more important than all of the bandaids that people may be talking about currently. I find several hours of prayer for President Trump and our nation are the most effective things any of us can do right now. Next arm up. I have seen what is currently happening for over twenty years starting with Hitlery Cartoon and hubby. RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU. GOD raises up kings and brings them down, a nations relationship with GOD is what really counts more than anything else. Get prayed up and keep it up.

Individualism and collectivism are as antipodal as government and freedom, and therefore cannot coexist. One must wax while the other wanes.

It is emotional insecurity that drives collectivists to impose their will upon individualists. The nagging doubts residing in the recesses of the collectivist’s cranial cavity regarding the soundness of his ideology or belief system drives him to evict those doubts by imposing his will upon others.

The collectivist believes truth is validated by a consensus of the majority. Therefore universal conformity is required. Dissent is not permitted. This too is void of fact & logic. The narrative becomes “resistance is futile” assimilation into the collective Borg is inevitable. Fall in line worker bee.

Hi Brandan. You are very good at explaining this stuff. Reading thru your article just simplifies it all down and makes me shake my head and those who just don’t get what the liberal thinkers and globalists are doing here. This is the Communisim that our grandparents and even parents (I am 55 btw) hated. The very notion that the Commies might be here in the states was a very bad thing. Now the Commies are everywhere and it seems that a bunch of folks are welcoming them! I know people who still look at me as a crazy person when I mention globalists!
I am amazed at the level of conditioning to the hive mind that has already been accomplished. Very sad that folks are so willing to give up their personal freedom for what?
Looking forward to your next writing 🙂

It seems obvious to me what is afoot but then again, I have never been a sheeple!
I too would like to see Montana. One day I hope to do just that!

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti Issues Copycat Safer-At-Home Order: “It’s Time To Cancel Everything”

Sounds to me like it’s time to “cancel” Garcetti.

Also, Garcetti says we’re in for a “long, hard winter”, similar to Biden’s “dark winter” comments:

The only positive is that there’s a bunch of exceptions to the stay at home order:

Also, many curfews are from 10pm to 5am…what are they doing/installing at night that we can’t be allowed to see? Joe Imbriano, “The Fullerton Informer”, says that they’ve been installing the 5G “kill grid” that will essentially sicken our bodies. Watch out.

Truth is dangerous to them like your information…thank you for that and your work…Do you think they are rethinking the big pandemic hand they have played and may delay the collapse now? Could they not just end up with a stalemate and wait another 10 years if the Georgia senate goes republican? Meaning they are worried and for good reason because more and more people don’t believe their horseshit so they need to regroup and come back again with a new plan. If they can’t trick enough people could it be too risky for them to crash everything now? I think The pandemic is not as bad as they hoped and less and less people care. Covid 20 / 21 that really is worse, maybe? In theory they could delay as long as they want when they control the financial mechanisms to keep the boat afloat or sink it.

I see continuous acknowledgement of the threat the totalitarian regimes pose to this nation. What I don’t see is how the regimes came to be. Ever wonder how it was that the totally devastated economy of Germany in 1929 became the most powerful nation in Europe in 1939! Or how the rat hole that was China 20 years ago now threatens the entire free world? The answer in both instances is Wall Street investors and the European equivalent. The Bush family wealth began by laundering money for Nazi Germany. The decision to destroy American industry was implemented by Kissinger. The destruction of this nation can be wholly attributed to a treasonous congress bought and owned by Wall Street (who, by the way, owns and controls the big media propaganda machinery!.

“The leftist mind is collectivist in nature, and they think in terms of plantations; they do not like it when people move freely away from one of their plantations and start their own systems.”
This is a powerful quote, and can/should be applied whenever possible. The most dangerous and rebellious thing we can do is to walk away from “them” and simply prove they are not necessary. All forms of authority are gravely afraid of “We the people “ simply turning our backs, walking away and creating our own community. To hell with the collective, they offer nothing but tyranny!

It appears they want a brave new world
With less of everything for you and me
But more money and power for themselves
    It’s world communism, you see?

I say no, not another step
I will not condone your lie
    I will not go quietly
    And I will not comply

ok, I just read the Wikipedia article on Parler and it’s hilarious. As I read, I was actually hearing it in a Gender Studies Professor voice: “ok, now… here are the 5,267 things that good un-biased people don’t believe in”

To take a cue from God-of-the-gaps fallacy, the woke left are zealous believers in racism-of-the-gaps. That plus equality infests every thought, every conceptual process they entertain in what passes for the leftist mind.
